IaaS, or Infrastructure-as-a-Service is a form of cloud computing that delivers computer, network, and storage resources to consumers on-demand, and on a pay-as-you-go basis. 

IaaS enables end users to scale and shrink resources on an as-needed basis, reducing the need for high, up-front capital expenditures or on-premise infrastructure, especially in the case of spiking workloads. 

Service is available from all four cloud providers (EduCloud, Amazon Web Services, Azure & Google Cloud Platform)

PaaS, or Platform-as-a-Service is a cloud computing model that provides customers a complete cloud platform - hardware, software, and infrastructure - for developing, running, and managing applications without the cost, complexity, and inflexibility that often comes with building and maintaining that platform on-premises.

Micro Services is an architectural style that structures an application as a collection of services that are:

  • Highly maintainable and testable
  • Loosely coupled
  • Independently deployable
  • Organized around business capabilities

The microservice architecture enables rapid, frequent and reliable delivery of large, complex applications. It also enables an organization to evolve its technology stack.

This service is available from three Cloud providers (Amazon Web Services, Azure & Google Cloud Platform)

Cloud Cost and Security Optimization

Cost Control and Security Optimization management is available through the Hybrid Cloud Service and provides a consolidated view across all four cloud providers from a single pane of glass allowing for:

  • Continuous optimization, and governance of your cloud spend and security.
  • Effective cost monitoring and reporting, providing powerful savings recommendations that can be actioned
  • View and remediate non-compliant services industry standards such as CIS, PCI-DSS, NIST, HIPPA etc. Automatically check against the pillars of AWS Well-architected principles.
  • Visualize cloud deployments and overlay security threats to easily monitor for deployment changes and strengthen the environment

Microsoft (MS) Teams

MS Teams is a collaboration tool for groups to create content and share the information they need to work together. The tool is operated by Microsoft as part of their MS 365 suite. MS Teams enables users across the University to connect via instant messaging, video conferencing, online meetings, and simultaneously work on a document in real-time together.

MS OneDrive is a file hosting and synchronization service operated by Microsoft, as part of their suite of MS 365 applications. MS OneDrive allows users to securely store, share, and synchronize files and folders from anywhere at anytime.
